Gas & Diesel Pump Calibrations
You know that reconciling buying and selling fuel is affected by the measurement accuracy of your dispensers or refuellers.
You also know that consumers want to ensure they are getting what they pay for and expect the pumps to be accurate.
So you may ask yourself “ When do I need pump calibration ?”
The answer is: Anytime when:
- - you have doubts about the measurement accuracy of your equipment.
- - there has been two years since last calibration service.
- - you have received a Measurement Canada “Notice of Noncompliance”.
- - average volume sold by a meter exceeds half million liters / year.
- - you had service done at your pumps that might have affected accuracy.
- - you have unexplained gains or losses in the Inventory dip book.
At the time of the calibration I will test your equipment for any possible measurement errors and adjust the calibration to zero if found outside tolerances. One should be aware that even small errors can cause significant variations.
For example: +/- 0.2 % error x 1,000,000 liters sold = +/- 2,000 liters.
Some measurement errors are related to the integrity of the meters which I verify during fast flow and slow flow tests, repeatability tests and more.
Other errors are related to the ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) and its components. If there are defective parts that require repair or replace (meters, probes) and if you, the customer choose so, I will complete the service while on site.
In the event that the “As found“ calibration errors do not justify the inventory variations we can investigate the matters further while on site to help you find a solution.
You can contact me anytime to simply ask questions related to pump calibration, service and inventory reconciliation.
I will gladly answer your questions and rest assured I will not try to sell you a service when you don’t need or want it.
