In 2004 at the Trade Sector Review, the retail petroleum industry stakeholders together with Measurement Canada agreed a 2 year mandatory certification program should be created. 10 years later in August 2014, the New Regulations came into effect as law.

- - You receive by email a new MC certificate.
- - The Next examination due date is in 2 Years.
- - Your pump receives a new MC examination sticker.
- - No further action is required on your part. “ What happens when a pump fails the MC examination ?”
- - You receive by email a new MC certificate.
- - The Next examination due date is in 14 Days.
- - Your pump does NOT receive a new MC examination sticker.
- - Further action is required on your part to repair and re-exam. “ How to prepare before the MC examination ?”
- - Repair all issues you are already aware of.
- - Verify pump displays have all segments working and clearly visible.
- - Verify nozzles and hoses are not leaking or creeping.
- - Understand maintenance and due diligence saves you money.
